The only modification that Polk Performance made to the RX7 was a nice set of wheels.True to Polk style, the wheels didn't actually fit the car (which they knew they wouldn't), so they spent their 4 hours of mod time grinding down the calipers to ensure a custom fit. |

Last year, Polk Performance was invited to participate in a new TV show on ESPN2 called PIPES. The show was designed to show viewers what modifying their cars could do to pick up time in drag racing. Though the Polk crew lost the first round, the '93 RX7 with an LS2 was the fastest in the competition, even after all the other cars had three rounds of modifications.
Polk Performance was voted via Internet poll to return for the last episode as a Fan Favorite and compete against the winner as well as Ugly Car Racing in a grudge match. The RX7 blew both cars out of the water; there was no competition. And that was without any modifications to the vehicle and virtually no drive time by David prior to the race. We only wonder what the RX7 could have done had we modified it and had some seat time in it.
